Hi, How you All doing?

Let me introduce myself to you, I'm a first-time Author, from Manchester England, This is the first ever Blog I've ever done - hope I get it right!  Anyway, I'm a busy Mother of 5 and have written a Series of 'Epic Fantasy Adventure Books' readership age (18+).  I'm shattered, to say the least, have any of you got any suggestions as to possible Marketing avenues I could consider.  I released Part one last month just weeks before Christmas and am looking forward to getting the first money I've earned later this month, after not earning a single penny since 2009. Yes, I'm sure it's been really hard for many of you too, trying to finish up your books and get the visions of your mind out there for all to read. Hope you'll enjoy mine 'AGES OF RAEKWON - Awakenings Arousal the Peoples Story'.  I never anticipated how hard it would be to follow through with the promotion or get people, to take me seriously. The saying              'do not judge a book by its cover', seems to also apply to them looking at me.  So, please tell me how you're finding it all, I'd love to hear your...Stories!

Best,

Clio-Mystery

I'm new!!!

Posted by ChelbyT Dec 15, 2017

Good morning!!

I just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Patty, but I use the pen name Chelby Tannon.  I just published my first book "Where In the **** Is Jamestown North Dakota?" in November, and am currently working on the sequel, "Where In the **** Is Roxborough Colorado?"

I am learning very quickly that marketing a book is the hardest part of this adventure, and would like some pointers if anyone has anything more to share.  I have advertised on Instagram, Facebook, I have sponsered ads on Amazon, and put myself out there on awesomegang.com and goodreads.com.

I am also learning that no one wants to review your book.  I have begged for reviews from people who have personally contacted me telling me their thoughts about the book.  They all promise, and yet, I only have two.  I get no one thinks about reviewing things that they actually enjoy so I don't harrass anyone but I'm desparate to get more reviews so that not only do I learn from my mistakes, but so that people who click on my book see that more than 2 people read it.

Thoughts?

Suggestions?

I'm wide open to any feedback.

Thank you all, I am really enjoying my new found life as a legitimate published author.

The sense of accomplishment is overwhelming to me.  I have raised 4 girls, worked full time, and gone back to college but this first book, is on a level all of its own.  I never want to read it ever again, but I will always protect, cherish, and defend it.  It is mine.

Cork writer says 'Hi'

Posted by Corkwriter Dec 4, 2017

Hello Fellow Dreamers,

Looks like I'm latest newcomer on the docket, so here's more than you need to know about me.

I often tell people I have a mind like a steel trap, but the latches rusted out years ago. Age, good bourbon, good friends, travel, hanging with stars, closing hotel bars, peer pressure, free peanuts on Southwest, perhaps some grey matter leaking out my brainpan--plus many other factors--have earned me a memory that comes and goes like a good metaphor I wish I had to insert here.

I've done some things as an occupation that deserve telling. So I wrote a novel because I figured if one gets the tone right, finds the good fiction beyond the non-fiction, and spells most of the words correctly you've got something very readable. Did I mention it's funny?

Back in the day I had two published books, one poltical & humorous, one media humor and analysis. I don't remember if they will let you pass along the names of your previous books here, or even my own name  But if I'm allowed to--they're well out of print--they'd be True Grits and A Few Marbles Left. And I'd be John Corcoran Jr.

Neither my prior books nor my freelancing paid the rent. So, despite a "face for radio," I became a critic and entertainment reporter on the tube. I was the goofball at the end of the show,--after all the bleeds-it-leads, the ball scores, the weather, and the earnest editorial by a well-meaning GM-- I'd come by to tell you what movie to see or what a star or director thought about his/her new flick.  I interviewed stars. Many a weekend, I jumped the big skybird, flew to a distant city and lived in the lap of luxury for a couple days while lapping up the good hootch. SHow Biz--You gotta love it.

I won't lie. It was a great gig. The novel--called Doing Julia is in the process of getting loaded up as an original Paperback and on Kindle.

Best,

Corkwriter

RCMan

I've just written a book that I peg as a Stream of Consciousness experience. The title is WTF. We know what that translates to if spelled out. SOC's do not follow the tradition structure of a book: plot, character development, and/or use of common narrative devices. It's not a novel. It's not commentary except in an oblique fashion nor an extended essay. It's more of a sly satire on the use of modern language. It's practically anything goes. It's chaotic but coherent at the same time. In essence, its sui generis. The reader is in for an amusement ride: short, sweet, and intense.

MATRIX

Posted by BooksRUs Oct 5, 2017

What to do when your best friend has done the unthinkable turning your whole world into chaos? Leaving you to take the heat of his actions which makes you question everything you believed in.

Come be part of a time when the Angels fell from the very presence of God Himself, into a world of despair. This is the story of the ones who were undecided.

Also in Book 3 of the series: The Chilling Spine Series, SCI-FIED! Is a short story based on this book Matrix. To understand the characters in this story, it is advised to read the Matrix story in there first.

Unexpectedly, an Illustrator

Posted by DebbieBarry Aug 26, 2017

When I lost most of my sight in 2014, the last thing I expected to do with my suddenly copious free time was to start creating illustrated books for children!  I had made two while I could see, and had published them on CreateSpace: Colors and Numbers and Around the Color Wheel.  I thought my days of drawing were over, since I could not see the text on a printed page.

Then I remembered the days when I made some pretty cool chatroom avatars, back in the 90s, using MSPaint.  I could zoom in, and we had, after the first six months or so of my blindness, acquired adaptive computer equipment that let me see what I was doing, as long as I was patient with my own limitations.  After a few false starts, I created Five Green Speckled Frogs, using MSPaint to create all of my original illustrations, and using transparent pastring to place my images on a set background, which I had also drawn.  It reminded me of making pictures with those vinyl cling images and background boards we played with in my childhood.  I used the slightly altered version of the song preferred by my little cousin, who was then four.  Soon after, I rewrote Three Little Kittens, and used MSPaint to create the illustrations for that, as well.  I published both using CreateSpace.

At the beginning of this month, I was stuck inb the hospital for several days.  My husband brought me a small drawing book, some black Sharpie markers, and a couple of ten-count boxes of the wide-tipped Crayola classic markers that were on the back to school sales.  While the medications ran through my IV, I sat in bed and drew pictures.  I drew all of the illustrations for Debbie Draws the Alphabet, for How Many Bugs, and for Shapes We Eat, to each of which I later added text, using the computer, and published through CreateSpace.  At home (sparing the nurses the mess!), I cut shapes from colored construction paper, and added googly eyes, to create the animals, and a background page, which came together to become Farmyard Friends.  Yes, I published that on CreateSpace, as well!

Suddenly, as long as the lines are bold enough, I can draw pictures suitable for chuldren!

I've stocked up on more paper and markers, and added some colorful highlighters for variety.  I have several more children's books in my head, and I've already started drawing the illustrations for the next one!  Watch for updates as I see what a legally blind author and illustrator can do!

(I haven't stopped work on book 2 of the What Mother Goose Meant series: More What Mother Goose Meant!  I have the series outlined out to book 12, so I'll be writing on that as much as I can, and drawing in the evenings.  I've just finished the chapter for "I Had a Little Husband," nd I'm working on "I Love Litle *****.")

I grew up in the Ohio Valley that sits between the Appalachian foothills and the Ohio River. A small town called Portsmouth. A town that once was a thriving city. The main industry was steel. The steel mill provided economic stability. It made men strong and sometimes rowdy. My granddaddies and daddy worked there and thought I would too. Most young boys future began and ended at the mill. Education was not viewed as a necessity. I, however, loved learning. A true bookworm. Being a nerd in the middle of a bunch of rough and rowdy rednecks can be detrimental to your health. Most of my life I was bullied and eventually started fighting back. This led to drug and alcohol abuse and resulted in me dropping out of school.

Years of abusing my body, mind, and spirit took its toll on me. However, I managed to get sober and start the recovery process. A process that will last the remainder of my life. I am back to my first real love; books. Went back and received my education, have served as a pastor for several years, and began writing. Hence, I am here sharing this brief introduction with you.

Hello Everyone . . .

Posted by MusicLover Jul 11, 2017

This is my first message to this community. I am very happy to be here and make friends with writers who have this passion to write and spread messages that will help humanity. I have a history of professional musical performance, mostly classical and Church work, orchestras, chamber music, etc. It was fun while it lasted but now I am older and interests have expanded. I have this urge to write about things that really count in life, like faith in God, etc. I would love to hear from folks who have these things in common and make friends.

First thank you for the suggestion to creat an Author's page, http://www.richardmathews.net

Secondly, wanted to quickly note how greatly I've appreciated posts as well as replies which have occurred from Community.

Unlike the highly talented, truly outstanding Author's present here, I am only a story teller.

Someone looking back on nearly a six decade journey enjoying what time I have left.

Finally took your advice posting a half dozen previews to various titiles.

In FULL DISCLOURE, all my e-books are offerred for Free quarterly.

Createspace and KDP made one of my last dreams come true.

As a cancer survivor, I'm just trying to share what I learned.

Peace be with you.

Need feedback

Posted by moonbeam7 Apr 18, 2017

I'm trying to improve my description for my book Unraveled. Would appreciate any and all feedback.

Alyson Pierce believed she was like any other seventeen year old girl. She wasn't. She believed her mother died giving birth, but Alyson was never born. Everything she knew was a lie. Betrayed by her "father", she sets out on a quest to find the truth. Instead, she finds a world where the distinction between right and wrong isn't always clear and the truth she seeks could be deadly.

Hello, new Sci-Fi writer

Posted by Blackie_Chan Apr 16, 2017

Hello, everyone, my name is Justin Pyfrom and I'm a lover of all things Science Fiction and Video Games. I've been a lover of storywriting since I was in grad school and it followed me until I got my Bachelor's in Game Simulation and Programming. But, after a few failed projects, my best mate reminded me that EVERYBODY knows how to design a game but where I really shine is telling a compelling story and creating intriquing characters. With that, I was convinced to do what I really love and write stories that "bend minds". I'm hoping that I do them proud and learn more about myself in the process.

Please, any and all feedback is greatly appricated.
