Melody Writes

Posted by bayoumel Mar 28, 2018

I've got quite a few poems edited and most in hardcopy, but all, digitally.  This is my first inkling that there is even a self-publishing service on Amazon or anywhere that makes it possible for those who have not submitted work elsewhere to just get it out there.  I live in Portland, Oregon and I am originally from Los Angeles where I raised my two sons to their passions.  I have wanted to start a WordPress Blog in the past and could not move forward due to ALL of the tech stuff........I have Aspergers, and don't really have the ability to make sense of how to do that end of things.  I can write.......pictures make ALOT of sense to me  :-)    I'm fearful that even in this scenario, I will be taking time and energy to gather some material together and then will not be able to make sense of how to set it up with a "cover" and all the various little things that to me..........are NOT art.

IS this POSSIBLE to be unskilled at that part of things.....are the prompts given here, enough?  And what happens to material I put in a book here?  Is copyright an issue?  Can I use this material in something larger somewhere else at some point?

I need to have instructions practically spelled out for me.   But, really, I CAN write  :-)

Nice to connect,

Melody

Hi, How you All doing?

Let me introduce myself to you, I'm a first-time Author, from Manchester England, This is the first ever Blog I've ever done - hope I get it right!  Anyway, I'm a busy Mother of 5 and have written a Series of 'Epic Fantasy Adventure Books' readership age (18+).  I'm shattered, to say the least, have any of you got any suggestions as to possible Marketing avenues I could consider.  I released Part one last month just weeks before Christmas and am looking forward to getting the first money I've earned later this month, after not earning a single penny since 2009. Yes, I'm sure it's been really hard for many of you too, trying to finish up your books and get the visions of your mind out there for all to read. Hope you'll enjoy mine 'AGES OF RAEKWON - Awakenings Arousal the Peoples Story'.  I never anticipated how hard it would be to follow through with the promotion or get people, to take me seriously. The saying              'do not judge a book by its cover', seems to also apply to them looking at me.  So, please tell me how you're finding it all, I'd love to hear your...Stories!

Best,

Clio-Mystery

MATRIX

Posted by BooksRUs Oct 5, 2017

What to do when your best friend has done the unthinkable turning your whole world into chaos? Leaving you to take the heat of his actions which makes you question everything you believed in.

Come be part of a time when the Angels fell from the very presence of God Himself, into a world of despair. This is the story of the ones who were undecided.

Also in Book 3 of the series: The Chilling Spine Series, SCI-FIED! Is a short story based on this book Matrix. To understand the characters in this story, it is advised to read the Matrix story in there first.

Hi,

I have been using CreateSpace since I first thought about creating a book in 2012.  What a wonderful opportunity they provide.  Not only do they offer us guidance about creating a cover, they offer us the opportunity to print and make a reasonable quality book at a very, very, minimal cost.  Then they connect us to the mammoth sales opportunities offered by Amazon.com and offer us a community to discuss with.  What could be better?  A publisher liked one of my ideas (Have You Seen My Daddy's 18 Wheeler?) but only wanted to offer me a self-publishing contract.  It made me feel vindicated, but I had to tell him "Thanks, but No Thanks ".

But, to describe me, I retired from full-time civil engineering in April, 2014.  I designed highways and by-ways, as well as other infrastructure improvements, I inspected their construction, I raised two wonderful daughters, and was an active Rotarian for more than 20 years.  Now my wife and I travel, I take lots of photographs, I constantly read and am beginning to cook, I provide some part-time civil engineering to a very select group of clients, and I write, write, write.  I love it .

Now I an spending time taking pictures of 18 Wheelers, contacting the owners to gain their approval, arranging them into a series of children's travel books, and trying to market them.  I titled them "Have You Seen My Daddy's 18 Wheeler?" (one book with 176 pictures and a story about what Daddy experiences) and "Have You Seen My 18 Wheeler?" (12 books with 19 pictures and area for recording information about the sighting).

I also make presentations to high school and college students who are considering civil engineering as their field of study - it is amazing how many of them really have no concrete idea about what we, as civil engineers, do for infrastructure construction.  I titled two different books "Russell Builds a Bridge" and "Russell Widens a Road".  And then, after my younger brother passed away, I created a biographical history about our mother for her grandchildren.  I titled it "What Did He Tell Her?" because the married life she lead as the wife of a share-cropping Iowa farmer did not fit with the New York City childhood she had before that marriage.  I thought it was a pretty unique story.

So, if you would preview, make comments about, and/or offer condolences about the books and my ideas, I would appreciate it.  If you want my input about your projects, please let me know what you are working on and how to find it and I will return the favor.

Hello, new Sci-Fi writer

Posted by Blackie_Chan Apr 16, 2017

Hello, everyone, my name is Justin Pyfrom and I'm a lover of all things Science Fiction and Video Games. I've been a lover of storywriting since I was in grad school and it followed me until I got my Bachelor's in Game Simulation and Programming. But, after a few failed projects, my best mate reminded me that EVERYBODY knows how to design a game but where I really shine is telling a compelling story and creating intriquing characters. With that, I was convinced to do what I really love and write stories that "bend minds". I'm hoping that I do them proud and learn more about myself in the process.

Please, any and all feedback is greatly appricated.

Hello Fellow Indie Publishers ~

It has been a pure pleasure reading through the variety of posts and information on how to self-publish through this service. I am happy to say that I successfully published my first book of poetry this month and it is now available on Amazon. I am having a wonderful time learning how to navigate the self-publishing world and many of the contributors here have provided invaluable support. I felt it appropriate to extend my gratitude. ~ thanks all!!!

Here is my author's page with bio - do not hesitate in connecting: http:// https://www.createspace.com/6489425 . I have several other projects that I am contemplating including more poetry, children's books and a series of essays. What fun! Thanks for the support.

Self-Reliance and the Writer

Posted by jtbleu Jun 9, 2015

Conflict is good in a novel, in a story, in a competition. I believe in self-reliance, and it appears my characters do too. Imagine that?

Which brings me to self-publishing.

Yep, I'm gonna do it. Seems the best option for someone like me--the self-righteous autodidact, getting long in the tooth, and unable to fit into a square peg.

I would appreciate any and all reviews. My work is quirky, meta, genre fiction with literary pretensions--and it seems to be the only way I can write.

As you probably guessed, I am new. I have written and self published an autobiography titled "Life, Is It Really Like A Box Of Chocolates?".  It is available as both ebook and paperback. If you would care to read the preview and comment, I would be grateful. My life from childhood th senior citizen has gone from happiness to devastation, but my faith in GOD has enabled me to continue.

Hello, guys. So I'm just a teenager [14], but an aspiring writer. I have written so many short stories in the past that I haven't finished. Now, my goal is to fully finish, complete with the editing and all, and to publish my work and share it with the world. Do I sound like I'm bragging? I really dont intend to; I just want you to know. 😊I mean, As I started writing, but it seems like too many ideas flow from my mind. So I would like to ask some tips on how to organize my thoughts. 😊 It would mean so much to me.Thanks in advance. XX

P.S. I'm new to create space, so I really don't know if this post will reach you.

raised in the mid west to a set of parents who were trail blazers regards to negro's making progress in society.  I did not really become aware to their sacrafices, until I moved them to my home during their retirement, mother with alzheimers, and dad just aging, especially after his wife, my mother passed away.  Now I see that the road was set by their parents more that 100 years ago. where the name of my first book "BLENDING WHITE while COLORED NEGRO BLACK".

To my surprise negfo, or afro americans are in the news again, with police shooting and such.  I wish there was a magic formula to educate parent of black children, how to blend or at least cope..seem like time was turned back 100 years. Wonder what my kids think ?

My Createspace Experience

Posted by dibbs Oct 23, 2014

My Create a Space Experience

https://www.createspace.com/

http://christismylove.blogspot.com/

So I always wanted to publish a book, since I was younger I was really interested in writing, novels, and poetry. After many different thoughts on traditional publishing VS. self-publishing.

I check with many different publishing companies, and groups... Many Blogs, Websites and Forms..

But eventually I was lead to Create Space, a Amazon subsidy. The Self Publishing Industry is still a slightly new industry so I thought I'd dive in head first.

My First book through Create a Space, called Change Begins With a Choice wasn't that well seen, and marketing right. I just recently took it down from the online stores until it is completely edited correctly. They offer a bunch of different tools, which seem costly but are probably worth it..

I am not an editor by nature, so I think I'm going to give their editing a try.

When I first published it, I made around 84$ in two months without proper editing, and design..

(Thanks Mom lol..she bought most of them..)

There is a bunch of different self-publishers out there, but I'd really suggest Create Space as a perfect place for your first Novel, Chap-book, or Poetry collection.

Until I get the book proper editing, (when I get some $$!)
