For authors, Amazon's Search Inside the Book program allows customers to see the interior pages of a book.

 

How does it work? When customers search for books, Amazon.com uses the actual words from inside participating books--not just the author, title, and keywords supplied by the publisher--to return the best possible selection of books. For matches inside the book, they also display a short excerpt and links to the page where the query matched. From any book detail page, customers have the opportunity to sample the book using the Search Inside! reader. This includes previewing sample pages, viewing a random page, or searching for a specific reference or character.

 

Titles submitted to the Search Inside the Book program are automatically eligible for personalization and merchandising features throughout Amazon.com, such as recommendations. With this helpful search feature, customers can discover books that may never have surfaced in previous search results.
