Hi. I am ne here. Presently I am with another POD company and I am not truly happy at the moment with them.

If I used Create space woud I be able to use the program I use now? (Open Office 3) and I normally use A5 size. Would that be OK? on Create Space?

Re: Formatting

Several members here use OpenOffice for page layout.  You can use an A5 trim size, but it's not an "industry standard" size for CS -- so using it would limit your sales channel options.  If that would be an issue, either 5.5x8.5 or 6x9 would be the closest industry standard trim sizes to A5.

Hope that helps.  Best wishes.

Re: Formatting

Interesting you should ask about OO3. I wrote Need A Job? Publish A Book! with OpenOffice because I was tired of answering the same questions about MSWord over and over. I thought there had to be a better way and I stumbled upon OO. The two problems I have with OO are #1 you cannot set the headers to individual chapters and #2 it does not have a scan to OCR application. Other than that most of my books have been done in OO3 since I wrote Need A Job? in the middle of last year.

It will not be hard to modify your A5 to any other 'standard' size, just change the margins, double check the widows and orphans and your chapters. It may increase your page count by a few, but if you haven't had it on CS before now, then that shouldn't matter.
