Re: Shameless Self Promotion Board

My book has been out since November 2010. "Voices Over The Moon" has been reasonably well received, but could always do better.

The story centers around Mary O'Brien, a late-night talk radio host. Usually hosting love-related Passion Calls, it is Halloween so she switches format to a holiday theme. People call in and talk about their likes - and dislikes - about Halloween. A vampire calls in and talks about what she is - and isn't. The facts are fascinating and maybe just a little disturbing. But then the call is cut off.

A little later, this vampire shows up at the radio station. Mary invites her in to field calls with her, a different take on your everyday normal Halloween! (Now, we all know about not inviting a vampire in). From there, things get a little . . . different.

The book is written all in dialogue (it is a radio show). It is almost like you are listening to it.

More info on the book and links to purchase it, plus other things I've written, and a little about me, are on my website: http://garyscrawford.com

Thanks for checking it out. Good luck to all of you.

Re: Shameless Self Promotion Board

Thanks!

I published my first book "How To Get Started As An Independent Recording On Your Own" as the spur of the moment.  I never even considered writing a book, however a friend of mines told me I should do an Ebook on the things that I do and I just started writing down what I would want for each Chapter title.  However, me not being a person who like to write alot I turned those chapters into "tips" and did a reference guide type of book.  It was quick and straight from what I experienced as an aspiring singer back in the days.

My book can be purchased on my website that I designed: www.ChantelEnterprises.com or at Smashword.

Good Cop, Dead Cop is finally available here or at Amazon as a paperback or Kindle book, as a Barnes&Noble Nook book, or at the Apple iBookstore.

Alex Munroe hated being dead,

but he hated not being a cop even more.

Luckily the discovery of the afterlife means death isn't quite the disability it once was and new technology has allowed him to partner with rookie cop Linda Yamaguchi. Of course technology still can't give him a physical body or the ability to interact with the billions of other dead people, except through the Internet. But technology has allowed Alex to expand his mind and access the world of information in ways he would have never thought possible when alive, which is a useful skill when the dead start to go missing, and it's up to Alex and Linda to solve the mystery of their disappearance.

Thanks for providing this formidable source... I am inviting members to preview my book BIRDYJOSH and BIRDYLU, a Paper Birds' Story in Amazon.  Quoting from it "A Web search for Origami will yield several sites with instructional videos featuring this ancient but not forgotten art.  I could go on and on... but this book was not designed to teach the popular Origami techniques; its purpose, rather, is to tell a story - the tale of two loving paper birds..."  From the back cover "An endearing story about a family of Origami-style paper birds and their struggles to survive amidst an unknown environment...Great for bedtime or anytime reading to youngsters with an emphasis on extending love to animal creatures, domesticated or wild.  From kids to adults, this publication is said to bring a smile and entertainment to all."  Visit my Websites http://www.AntiquesArtBookworld.com  and  http://www.olivaarteshow.com for more on this book, my other book projects and my artwork.  If you have read the book available at either Amazon or B&N, etc. (search Birdyjosh), please leave your feedback.  Thank you for visiting.  Mirta Oliva, author, illustrator

Re: Shameless Self Promotion Board

Thanks for this thread. I have to ask, what else can I do to promote? I've sent out press releases and emails I'm planning a launch party (but moving slow about it because I hate to talk in public!). Please let me know what I can do to move my book. Any input is welcomed.

Thanks!

Re: Shameless Self Promotion Board

Many local booksellers like holding book signings. It brings traffic into the store, and some will split the cost of advertising the event, should you decide to use paid promotions. Even a freebie press release to local papers will bring out the curious to a book signing. Many small book stores like to promote local authors. All you have to do is ask them.

How much you'll split on the book price will have to be worked out, of course.

Re: Shameless Self Promotion Board

Two of my projects have recently published. At this time, they are available only in e-book format. Paperback versions are in process and should be finalized within the next couple of weeks. If you are an e-book fan, don't delay!

1. "Richard: It's In The Blood"

This is Part 3 of The Chicago Trilogy entitled "Intersections: Love, Betrayal, Murder". This is the first time this novel has been published as a stand-alone. If you've read "Where Is Harry" and "Claire: A Woman's Journey - NY Heiress ~ Chicago Madam", then "Richard" is the way to get the end of the story!

Below are the links to purchase this novel from Smashwords and Kindle in Amazon.com.

2. "Press'd To The Wall"

#3 in The Preston Andrews Mysteries. If you aren't  hooked on these yet, you will be after reading this one. Rachel goes to Seattle where the mayor has asked FBI Director Malcom Probst for help--Seattle has a serial killer that just killed one of the female officers. So, once again, Probst is on Press's list of least favorite people when Rachel disappears! Press, Palmer, Trace, and The Senator go to Seattle to find Rachel. It wouldn't hurt if they could catch a monster while they're at it.

In response to your comment:

You brought up a point I forgot to mention in a previous Createspace posting about marketing your book. Click here to see the posting. (hopefully the link works?)

I'm with you, there was a time I would have preferred to die than speak in public. However, I knew, that as an author, I'd have to get over it. I joined Toastmasters International (TM) and have to say it saved my life, I haven't died speaking in public. In fact, I'd have to now admit enjoying it.

I highly recommend checking them out. Every club is different and some ARE certainly better than others. It is very inexpensive but I will warn you, you only get out of it what you put into it. I really wanted to get comfortable speaking in front of an audience and the thing I found with TM was that I had an audience to practice on at every meeting. If you spend enough time in front of a real audience, you do get much more comfortable. True, the butterflies never fully go away, but you do learn to control them. There are other professional training systems out there, such as Dale Carnegie, but TM is inexpensive and worked wonders for me. In fact, the only reason I wrote my first book was because of TM.

Re: Shameless Self Promotion Board

Well I figured I'd jump on the bandwagon here.  My books have been available for almost a month now, just fighting through the trenches of marketing and online selling.

The first book, Freaks, Geeks, and Scary Things Vol. 1 is a collection of tales gathered up over the past few years.  Some I have tried to get published in magazines and online sites, and some were specifically written for this book.   The stories are different genres as I enjoy reading several different types. Mostly in the darker realm, horror and scary things... though some are a bit more down to Earth and tug at the heart strings a bit.

The second, Life Coin, is actually a fully realized novel of the short story of the same title from Freaks, Geeks, and Scary Things.   In this book, we meet Allie and David, two young people who have their lives drastically altered on their shared birthdays.  What follows is a short tale of how the choices we make and the actions we do affect others and change outcomes years after we are gone.

You can find both links here on my website www.strangeasfiction.wordpress.com and please if you have facebook, feel free to like me there http://www.facebook.com/StrangeAsFiction.

Send me a message on my facebook wall... or comment my blog and give details of your sites and I will be more than happy to link you up on mine We're all in this together after all.
