Color Printing Sample Book

If would certainly be helpful for prospective publishers and authors if CreateSpace could create a sample book that shows CS quality for color printing. Perhaps with brief tutorial and print examples of how to achieve the best results. As a book designer, it would make it much easier for me to talk up CS to prospective clients if I could show them the quality of product CS products. And that, in turn, would help CS get more authors and publishers producing product through them. Lightning Source has been able to supply samples, especially of their new color products, that I can show my clients--and that helps sell them on LSI.

Just a thought.

Re: Color Printing Sample Book

Currently CS has no samples but there are many colored books out there to give you a sample of CS quality.

Here is one, its a completely illustrated story book done by one of the community members -

Here is my illustrated poetry book

We have both have used colors lavishly.

Both these books will give you a good sample for colors printed by CS.

Re: Color Printing Sample Book

I second of this comment.

Other services offer a cheap sample that sometimes is also a guide.  Even just a selection of stock photos and layouts would be very helpful in getting a sense of the final product. I can make this myself but then I have to use up an ISBN number for a sample book? This makes no sense.

I would happily drop $5 on a sample book and keep moving on things. Looking at those amazon links has not been much help, is that really the best there is to offer from CreateSpace, someones uploaded pics? It looks like a dust jacket has been put on that book, even more confusing.

Certainly you could get some author to "donate" there book as the sample.

No do not go on the amazon picture, as they are having some problem with thumbnail images.

If you would like to go by the digital image, then here is my book cover design.

But you are interested in looking at the printed quality instead. So just buy the books, both the books are 10$ only.

Next time I order my proofs, I will create a sample book of 5$ for all of you.

Re: Color Printing Sample Book

Thanks for posting the cover Wicked.  I was concerned about the saturated deep colors in my illustrations and how well they would look when published.  Your book looks great.

Does purple print well?  Pastel or deep saturated?

Re: Color Printing Sample Book

Any deep shade will come out darker (if you use rgb)

pastel will come out good.

I have not used purple yet, but I will for my next few books.

Re: Color Printing Sample Book

You can download a press-ready PDF of this book and send it to any printer to test quality. Read down to find the link. They designed the project to test Lulu, but it can be used with any printer.
