On line marketing

Does anyone know of a good book on marketing on-line ebooks and paperbacks? I'm lost in a pool of twitter, facebook, follow me, and my website, which I don't think is working right.

Thanks for help.

Re: On line marketing

Eric will probably have the best advice for you along these lines. But my assessment of Twitter, Facebook, etc., is that your involvement needs to be active and regular, and getting started is a full time commitment, with your book front and center.I gave up because it ate up too much time.

But wait to see what other say.

In answer to your question:

Absolutely!

There are many books on Marketing in the libraries and on the internet. Doing the proper research and learning how other successful authors do it will point you in the right direction. Marketing is something that has to be done regularly or your 'message' gets lost in the 'noise'.

Here is just a small list of great books that come to mind:

  • 1001 Ways to Market Your Books, by John Kremer
  • Jump Start Your Book Sales, by Mariyln & Tom Ross
  • Plug Your Book, by Steve Weber
  • How To Publish and Promote Online, M.J. Rose & Angela Adair-Hoy
  • How To Make Real Money Selling Books, by Brian Jud
  • Publicize Your Book, by Jacqueline Deval
  • The Right Way To Write, Publish and Sell Your Book, by Patricia L. Fry
  • Bestselling Book Publicity, by Rick Frishman & Robyn Freedman Spizman
  • Facebook Marketing an Hour a Day, by Chris Treadaway & Mari Smith
  • Twitter Revolution, by Deborah Micek & Warren Whitlock
  • The New Rules of Marketing & PR, David Meerman Scott
  • Guerrilla Social Media Marketing, by Jay Conrad Levinson & Shane Gibson
  • Guerrilla Marketing for Writers, by Jay Conrad Levinson, Rick Frishman, Michael Larsen & David L. Hancock
  • Book Marketing DeMystified, by Bruce Batchelor
  • Social Media, by Chris Brogan
  • Book Marketing Made Easy, by D'vorah Lansky
  • The Frugal Book Promoter, by Carolyn Howard-Johnson
  • Red Hot Internet Publicity, by Penny C. Sansevieri
  • . . . oh yeah, Mastering Niche Marketing, by Eric V. Van Der Hope (thought I'd 'plug' my book!)

There is much more to marketing than just reading the books . . . you have to learn what is taught then TAKE ACTION!

Just as Walton suggested that your involvement must be active and regular and indeed, Marketing is a full-time commitment (if you want to be successful).

Again - Marketing is an ongoing process and it has to be done everyday (I'm sure many CS members have 'heard' me say this more than once).

I'll provide you with additional threads that have more information on marketing:

"Does anyone have any advice on marketing for a new book coming out on Amazon designed by CreateSpace?"

https://www.createspace.com/en/community/message/144449#144449

Read the thread I've suggested above (including the links/urls in that thread) because there is really good information there!

Also, do a search in the "Search Community" search box (top right hand corner of the CS website), using search terms like: promote, sales, marketing, etc., you'll find alot of good info that can help you to at least start brainstorming ideas.

Here is a thread with great ideas by Walton and Henry (Playwight):

"I'm another newbie wondering how to sell books"

Another thread:

I was trying to give you the perfect segue . . . Glad you asked, here's my my book . . . "thought I'd 'plug' my book!"  Why not at the top of the list?

Stumpy . . . The key to marketing, like advertising, is persistence. We used to call what typically happens . . . "Is this ad old or what! And this marketing plan, it was ahead of the curve back when we were still using steam power!" . . . client fatigue.  But for the person who stumbles onto your book, site, blog, Facebook page, etc. tomorrow, it's all new.

Trust me, I considered it! But in all honesty, I didn’t want to draw ALL the attention on my book but rather the list of books above it - ALL of which are fantastic books that I’ve benefited from personally and that I know others would as well.

Google paid search is the most effective way to promote your book. I have tried it and it do work. Why not have a try?
