Re: Welcome, New Community Members!

You are welcome!

There are a number of individuals here in the community that offer this kind of service (if you are talking about getting a cover designed, your manuscript typeset, copy edit, etc., etc.). Also, Createspace offers this service as well but you will find that the Createspace members will definitely be within a budget that you aren't going to have a hernia over! Start a thread and ask individuals to send you a PM concerning this and then you can provide further details.

Re: Welcome, New Community Members!

Just wanted to say howdy. I'm an illustrator /writer - I 'm joining CS because: 1 -  the author I'm working with picked CS as her route to publishing and i figured the best way to make sure the files I design conform to CS specs - was to join myself.  2 - I thought I might look into doing a book myself.

Am I right in assuming that I will create but hand over the files to the author for the author to upload?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm used to creating or designing work for clients and then sending the file directly to the printer but with a note tthat this is for Job X account #123 etc.

My other question: My author has picked a 6 x9 trimsize - it looks like I can have images bleed off the page but can I design full spreads, double pages?

Thanks in advace for your help.

Download Build Your Book and Bleeds by Walton - you will find the links to them in his signature block. This should answer most of your questions. Yes 2 page images are possible and it is explained how to do it in one of these PDFs.

Re: Welcome, New Community Members!

Hello everyone! I'm very excited to join this community. My book is designed and almost ready to load. I have a great book designer. Her name is Kim West. You can find her at  http://kimrwest.com/. My memoir is titled "Dreamseeker's Daughter." It chronicles the adventures of the my eccentric  family travelling an old schooner boat in the 1950s down the Mississippi River and along Florida's Gulf Coast. It is David Sedaris meets Tugboat Annie and the characters we meet on our journey to Paradise--namely the Southy Sea islands--rivals Mark Twain's. The New Orleans Times Picayune put it this way: "The Goodlanders Make Huck Finn Look LIke the Man in the Grey Flannel Suit". Haha! My poor mother shanghied away from her comfortable life ashore wasn't too thrilled about that! It's part history book, part travel journal, part coming of age story. I have been lucky enough to have Wally Lamb and Vicki Hendricks agree to write a blurb for the book. My marketing plan is wild. After a big launch party and readings locally, I am going to hit the road with my two dogs. I'll be going from Knoxville to Key West, Florida, camping along the way ala John Steinbeck's "Travels with Charlie", and I'll blog along the way. I already have several meet-the-author dinners lined up and am currently preparing to send out flyers hoping to also secure bookstore readings. If this proves fruitful I might head for California via New Orleans and Texas. I have a loyal fan based developed on FaceBook that can't wait to read the book. They have been part of the process of writing it from the start, giving me suggestions and cheerleading me every step of the way. Several of my fans have invited me to stay with them and to host author dinners. I just put up a website (also designed in partership with the amazing Kim West). Come on board!  May all our dreams come true. May our books find readers who love them. I have to say that, even though I have lived an amazing and adventerous life, nothing can compare to the exhilarating feeling of knowing my book is soon going to be in my hot little hands!  http://www.dreamseekersdaughter.com/

Re: Welcome, New Community Members!

Well despite instructions suggesting I could edit the first post I wrote on this forum, if I did it within 15 minutes, But I could not find an edit button anywhere at the bottom right. As a result, both the post with a couple of errors and the edited version showed up. I wish there was someway to get rid of the one with errors, and I really wish the editing instructions had been accurate. There wasn't any place to click on an "edit this post" function. I have poor eyesight due to severe astigmatism, so I usually do need to make corrections. I tried cutting and pasting a Word.doc that I had edited, but it seemed I couldn't paste text into the comment box either. Oh, well, too bad. I hate looking like a sloppy writer though

M. Skygins:

I do not know what to say, except thank you Createspace.com  for this website and allowing me to post my Astrology series. I want to help those who seek a positive relationship with people that may truly help encourage them to find their talent. I am sad of hearing stories of relationships gone bad. I seek to challenge folk to find someone in their life to be a life long friend or commitment with as little drama as possible. In a world gone mad, get mad enough to muster the energy to change it.

I encourage folk to look inward and find the strength to grow and realize the real love that you have to share and seek to give your gift to the world of the best that you can do. The power of the internet gives us great hope to find the someone that you are looking for whom may encourgae you to grow toward the hope that you seek.
