8.5" x 11" template?

Hi,
I used the CS template pdf/png for a clients book(5.5" x 8.5" on a print sheet size 19' x 13") in December...
no problem. I now have two of my own titles ready to go and  publish but the CS cover template artwork app
tells me "We do not currently have a template available to download for this selection." The two sizes are 8.5" x 11" x 64 pages and 8.5" x 11" x 80 pages. How do I output these? They are layed out/designed with InDesign CS5 so I can do any size/format that
is needed. I don't want to be rejected....Please help. Thanks, Snowski

Re: 8.5" x 11" template?

You don't really need a template. The cover file should be sized at 0.125" bleed + back cover width (8.5") + spine width + front cover width (8.5") + 0.125" bleed by trim height (11") + 0.25" bleed. So your dimensions should be 17.25" plus the spine width wide by 11.25" tall.

If you know the paper type and page count you can calculate the spine width using the calculations here: https://www.createspace.com/Products/Book/CoverPDF.jsp. Just be sure to keep all live elements more than 0.375" inside the outer edge and leave the lower right-hand corner of the back cover free of elements so CS can place the bar code there. The spine will be centered on the document.

There's really no need for a template.

Hi Snowski,

Seisa is right, you don't need a template, but if you want to use one, then try the link below. My cover template generator does all the trim sizes and page counts. I'm not sure why CS's one doesn't.

Cheers,

Steve

No, you should not include the bleed/trim marks on the print-ready PDF file. CS uses digital processes, completely different from an offset printer.
