Poster Printing Linked to CreateSpace Order?

I'm working on a publishing project--the Unofficial Guide to Earning the Boy Scout Eagle Badge.

The concept now includes a poster/chart which the family of the aspiring Eagle Scout uses to identify and track Eagle requirements.

The poster/chart could end up being the main product--with the book text providing explanations and reasoning, but being ultimately secondary to the tracking of the requirements.
The poster/chart as laid out now is at least 11x14.
I don't believe that it would be effective or usable in the maximum standard POD page size (8.5 x 11).

It would be great to hear ideas from this community.

Maybe the solution is a separate fulfillment service (separate POD poster-printing tied to the Amazon order? Or maybe there's another way?

Help!

Thanks.

Well, you are never going to get the customer info from an Amazon or CS purchase, so that avenue is out unless Amazon will allow you to put an email (highly unlinkely) in the description of the book. HOWEVER, there is nothing that will prevent you from putting a link at the front and/or end of the book with a website where they can purchase the poster. It will necessitate you have a website that will accept credit cards (paypal works great for me) or you might just have an ad in the back of the book with your email address (separate from your normal email address) contact you via email and/or your physical address so they can mail you a check.

Can the 11x14 poster be split into two halves they can cut out of the book and tape together?

Re: Poster Printing Linked to CreateSpace Order?

I'm not aware of any solutions using POD that would allow you to link or combine the two products. Magcloud do POD posters and full-colour magazines/booklets, which might make it easier to cross-promote or bundle the two products. Magcloud and Blurb are joining forces soon so there may also be opportunities to link posters and hardcover books. However, these products are going to be more expensive than CreateSpace printed books.

A common solution mentioned in this forum when people want to bundle CDs/DVDs or multiple books is to order inventory of all your products, shrink-wrap them into a single unit, apply a new ISBN for that unit, and supply back to Amazon through the Amazon Advantage program. This can also be costly as you have to pay for shipping (both ways) and give a 55% discount.

Another solution is to just put a link in the book itself where people can download the extra material and print it themselves, or a link to somewhere like Magcloud where they can purchase the poster separately.

Cafepress does both book and poster POD.  But, they aren't cheap, and they don't have integration with Amazon like CS does.    I'm not sure they'd bundle the two together, but you could link one product to the other on their site.

I make catalogues at MagCloud to send to bookstores -- the quality is excellent!
