Re: How to do pre-ordering on Amazon Advantage with CreateSpace

Hi Gary,

You are welcome.

You wrote: "I think I made a mistake. I read the first page and then went and confirmed my first two purchase orders as "Cancelled: not yet available." I now see that this is not the correct way to handle this. Are those orders lost forever?"

You are right, the process did change just a bit, but it's not critical, so don't worry about it ... these 'orders' are not actual customer orders anyways. Refer to Post #351 for explanation and how you can view customer pre-orders:

https://www.createspace.com/en/community/message/317591#317591

1 - Your Amazon Listing does not go away or disappear.

Do the following in this order:

2 - If you want your book available on the 19th instead of the 20th, then you need to make sure that your book is listed for the 19th in your AA control panel. Either manually change the date to reflect that or put in a support ticket to change the date. The sooner you do this, the better.

3 - On the night of the 18th (as late as possible), put in the request to AA to close your book title and transfer any pre-orders to Createspace.

4 - As early as possible on the morning of the 19th, call Createspace and 're-publish' your book (make sure all the sales channels you want enabled are active).

You should be good to go - that's it.

If you have further questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

-- Eric

Re: How to do pre-ordering on Amazon Advantage with CreateSpace

Thank you Eric. I really appreciate the help. The publishing date on my Amazon page has not been changed yet to the 19th. What would happen if I asked Amazon Advantage to close my account tonight and switch me pre-orders over to Createspace?

Re: How to do pre-ordering on Amazon Advantage with CreateSpace

You are welcome ...

Really ...? Amazon Advantage has not changed the date since this thread was last updated (October 6th)? Hummm ..... well, the only option you have then is to open a support ticket (tonight) and request that your book/title be closed and that any pre-orders in your account be transfered to Createspace for fulfillment. In that ticket also indicate that the publish date you requested to be changed has not been updated yet (why not??). It is critical that that date be the 19th or the pre-ordering transition may not work. Then you will have to approve your book in your Createspace account after you put in the request to AA (a couple hours later).

Re: How to do pre-ordering on Amazon Advantage with CreateSpace

This is what I received this morning. Am I good to go once I call Creatspace and tell them to have the book go live today?

Hello,

Thank you for writing to us.

I have now closed the title form your account and also initiated closing procedures for your Advantage account.

Further regrading the orders, please note that we will be unable to transfer orders from one program to another. Rest assured that future orders shall be placed through Createspace.

Therefore, I request you to go ahead and close the Advantage purchase order:8GFIXZEP. For more information, please contact createspace.

More information is available at the CreateSpace web site:

http://www.createspace.com/

For more information on how to get started moving some or all of your titles to Createspace, see the Advantage Help page:

Re: How to do pre-ordering on Amazon Advantage with CreateSpace

Your Amazon book listing has successfully transitioned over to taking normal orders now.

F.Y.I. the following is your "official" Amazon url (your previously listed url is too long, hard to remember & 'ugly'):

http://www.amazon.com/dp/0692519580

It appears you've 'reached' an Amazon Associate that seems to think that transfers cannot be done (I'm not surprised). Many representatives are simply not trained for this because Amazon does not have an official process. Please open a support ticket at my website: http://ReplyToEric.com and I'll provide you with further info to change that.

Re: How to do pre-ordering on Amazon Advantage with CreateSpace

Hi Eric,

You said:

To confirm the POs, you have to do the following: Once you open the POs, you need to choose "Backordered" in the Availability column (not "Available: Backordered"). Then you need to make sure you choose the correct date in the Expected Delivery column (the date must match the date you've chosen to be your Official Publish Date, which is the same date you will approve your book in your Createspace control panel).

I see only this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8slldew5qqan3zp/screenshot.png?dl=0

In other words:

Is the item available:

YES

- Accepted: In stock

- Backordered

- Backordered: External Confirmation

NO

- Cancelled: Temporarily out of stock

- Cancelled: Not yet available

- Cancelled: Permanently out of stock

- Cancelled: Temporarily suspend orders

- Cancelled: Out of stock

From this, I gather we should now select "Backordered" and not "Cancelled: Not yet available" -- Yes?

Thanks.

Laura

PS - It seems that whatever I choose, what ends up being saved is "Cancelled: Out of stock". Not sure why that would be, either.

Re: How to do pre-ordering on Amazon Advantage with CreateSpace

Hi Laura,

Yes, you are correct, thanks for clarifying.

Choosing "Backordered" is what is important.

The previous process was choosing "Cancelled: Not Yet Available" (I probably didn't have enough oxygen in my brain at the time I wrote "Available: Backordered".

However, the UK's Amazon Advantage account still does not offer the "Backordered" option, it still uses "Cancelled: Not Yet Available".

I've found that both these options do the same thing.

Not entirely sure why your account would be saving it as "Cancelled: Out of stock" though if you clearly picked "Backordered".

If you wish, open a support ticket at my website and I'll take a look: http://ReplyToEric.com.
