cover for smasword ebook

I want to make an ebook of a paperback print book i published with CS. I want to use smashwords. Can I use the same cover I used for the print book?

If you mean the same cover design, then yes. If you mean the same exact file (cover PDF), then no -- the ebook cover must be uploaded to Smashwords as an image file (.jpg 2400 pixels high preferred).

For a print book your cover image is (back cover + spine + front cover.)  An ebook (whether Kindle or Smashwords or anything else) uses a picture of the front cover.  Thus you would only save the front cover portion.  Also, the proportions are likely to be different.  For example a 6x9 book has the proportion of 1:1.5, whereas for Kindle 1:1.6 is preferred (in other words, the ebook image will be a bit narrower than the paper front cover, so you may need to make the text a bit smaller to avoid cutting it off at the sides.
