Please help with BISAC category

I am not sure what category to assign my novel to.

It is a "light romantic mystery adventure thriller".

The novels that it is most similar to would be Agatha Christie's They Came To Baghdad and The Man In The Brown Suit.  Beyond that it's like a very light, cosy version of a Dan Brown novel.

The categories that seem most suitable include:

Action Adventure (but there's not a lot of action in the guns'n'car-chase sense, though there is one pistol near the end)

Mystery & Detective: General (though there is no "Poirot"-style detective, and no murder)

Thrillers (but it doesn't really fit my overall feel of what I would expect a "thriller" to be, since it's cosy rather than hard-boiled)

Could anyone please advise?  Thank you in advance for any help/advice.

If none of the genres fit, there's always "FICTION / General."

Re: Please help with BISAC category

You can assign multiple BISAC codes to your title. I'd start with a general category and add a few specific ones; you probably won't find a single specific BISAC code that describes your story.

Re: Please help with BISAC category

Welcome to the community.  Besides what's already been mentioned, Fiction/Suspense (FIC030000) or Fiction/Romance/Suspense (FIC027110) might work.

Hope that helps.  Best wishes.

I think the newest available list is to the 2009 set...here's the link to the BISG page with BISAC codes.

Re: Please help with BISAC category

I don't think that there are any 'secret' BISAC codes. That would defeat the purpose. You might look up a few of the best-sellers in the category and see what category / code they are using.

Re: Please help with BISAC category

Books > Computers & Internet > Digital Photography & Video > Adobe Photoshop

this used by all bestsellers in Photoshop.

but i didnt find a BISAC code for that.

or maybe this is just an Amazon category?

Re: Please help with BISAC category

That's not BISAC, it's Amazon's classification.
