Re: Hello!  I'm new here. :)

Thank you for pointing that out so nicely. I wouldn't have been so diplomatic.

Why don't writers know that ALL CAPS means you're shouting at people? It's one of the basic rules of writing. As for those who write the topic in all caps -- I ignore them because it's rude.

Re: Hello!  I'm new here. :)

I'm new here too and wondered if someone more experienced can help me.  I went to ther Preview Gallery and was happy to review a number of the books there but there seemed no way to enter comments -- just a star value.   Am I missing something?

Re: Hello!  I'm new here. :)

Welcome.

No, you're not missing anything. I don't know if those writers don't know how to allow comments on their Previews, scared of what others might say, or just arrogant enough to believe their writing is perfect and will earn 5 stars.

So how's the weather in Vancouver? Calgary is darned cold right now after days of warm weather when everything melted.

Thanks for the info.  Expecting snow flurries for next two days. But, y'know, in Vancouver it is not REAL snow.  Sneeze and it's gone.

Re: Hello!  I'm new here. :)

Winter is such a bummer. We are expecting a storm in tomorrow night with, if we are lucky, 1/2 to 3/4 inches of rain. Pahrump is, after all, a desert... We may even get down to 10 degrees (F) above freezing. Brrrrr!

Hello, I am so new here that I don't even know if I'm doing this right. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I usually like to have a rant a day, but what with funerals and preparing my 'baby' for the 'big outside world', I've fallen well behind in socialising. However, now that "Cosa Nova is in the preview 'stocks', you are all free to 'go at' him/her/or it.

Re: Hello!  I'm new here. :)

I am sure there are several here. I know of one book that deals with the author's travels through Pakistan and I am think there is a Dr. of Technology in the Saudi area that has a tech manual online here. I cannot remember their names or the exact titles of their books at the moment.

Re: Hello!  I'm new here. :)

I'm so new, I still don't know for sure how to direct people to my newly-created Preview Request (?) for my book, "THe Gypsy Knights: A Novella of the Hundred Years War," which I had prevously "vanity-published" thro Cafepress.com but decided I'd be better off with being noted, at least in Amazon.com. But I'm getting tired of the maze, so I'll be back later after I rest up a bit. Meh.

Re: Hello!  I'm new here. :)

Dear Seal:This is a very selfish thread, but I need all the help I can get, as soon as I can get it. There's a guy with a scythe and an hour-glass breathing down my neck; and a Companion Lady (see my blog), who wants to know if I'm wasting my time in front of this one-eyed monster. So please have a glance at the following, and 'hit' straight from the shoulder:

Re: Hello!  I'm new here. :)

Interesting. I would read the rest of the story. 2 comments though, #1 when using abbriations spell them out at least once - "Corporal 2 I/C" is 2nd in charge, right? People without military experience may or may not understand that. #2 you are telling the story, not showing it. Let your actors tell the story through their interaction. The first scene from the moment the intell guy comes in until the firefight could be vastly expanded to show the nervousness the soldiers are feeling about having to wait in a hole for the bad guys. The corporal with no name can't light his cigarette because of it so why not have the other guys also discuss the situation or the fear they are building up in their own minds.

That is about it.
