How do you format plays and scenes for publishing

There are many ways to format a play. If there is no preferred format, then most agents and publishers would require something along the lines of http://www.12on14.us/free/formatting_for_publishers.pdf.  Looking at plays over the years, there is wide variation.  Between Samual French and Dramatists there is little difference, and neither follows what I linked to: personally, I find these difficult to use.
