Full bleed and trim size

For a full  bleed color book with a trim size of 8.5” x 8.5” is the correct image  size 8.625” w x 8.75” h? My thinking is that this allows .125” on top,  .125” on bottom and .125” on  top for the bleed.. What  happens if more than .125” is added to the images for bleed? Does that  simply mean that more of the image will be trimmed off?

Re: Full bleed and trim size

Page size too - 8.625 wide x 8.75" height, not just image size.  Yes, if you make images larger than that, it just means more will be cut off.

Yes.

I advise you to stick to precisely what CreateSpace asks for. Otherwise results may be unpredictable.

What often happens is CS will think the cover is set up wrongly, and they will resize it, which can create other errors. Always use the precise measurements.

Re: Full bleed and trim size

I agree with Maaku and Michelle . . . make your bleed 0.125".  No more. Despite this instruction:

If you want your images to bleed to the edges of your book, ensure that they extend at least .125" beyond the final trim size

CS says "at least" but most of have learned that any more and you ask for fiddling.
