Creating a Book Cover

Does anyone have a good book cover template that can be used with Word? My book is 7x10 and I have 213 pages. Thanks!

Re: Creating a Book Cover

No. Nobody would have such a thing.

And here's the long answer:

The key word is 'good'. Yes, it is possible to create a book cover in Word, correctly dimensioned, bleed adjusted, and formatted so well that the spine text fits perfectly, blah blah blah. Just as it is possible to create beautiful pictures with Excel. However, only the oddest of circumstances would lead a resonable person to take this approach, because it is making things difficult from the start. You need to apply the right tool to the job, and Word ain't it. Aside from all that, in using someone else's template, you inherit both the positives and the negatives, and I would venture to suggest that anyone who had created and shared a book cover template for Word was slightly odd in the head, and therefore perhaps not one's best project buddy.

I've created covers with:

OpenOffice Draw

Corel PhotoPaint

Corel Designer

Any one of those would be better than Word, and several are free. Others have created good covers with:

other graphics programs that I cannot remember.

Final piece of advice: go to and download the templates there. They will suit many applications, from which you may choose.
