Change in Language Use: Is Multilingualism & Bilingualism responsible

A person who has a command over two languages is bilingual whereas the one with two or more languages in considered as a multilingual. In today’s age, most of the people are multilingual, having a knowledge about more than two or more languages.

And your question is?

And I disagree that "most people are multilingual," both ion the world as a whole, and in particular in the US.  And knowledge "about" a language doesn't make someone multilingual or bilingual.  It's knowledge of  a language. What do you call someone who speaks two languages?

Old joke:

What do you call someone who speaks two languages?

Bilingual.

Someone who speaks more than two languages?

Multilingual.

Someone who speaks only one language?

American.
