uploading images

I am thinking about doing my children's picture book trimmed at 8.50 x 8.50 colored pages. Should I illustrate my images at 8.75 x 8.75 for the bleed and trim?

Also I am considering making the text part of the illustration. With that, I would be uploading images only to Createspace.

I plan on taking my images to a printer and having him load my 8.75 x 8.75 illustrations onto a USB Flash Drive. My computer is not very well calibrated. I thought doing uploading this way would be more color accurate with my original illustrations.  Do I still need to use Word if uploading from USB? Can I do this?

CS requires bleed on 3 sides, not 4. So your images (and page size) must be 8.625" wide and 8.75" tall.

It depends on the software you're using. I generally recommend keeping the text on separate layers from the illustrations, so you can more easily edit the text if you need to. This also allows for foreign language translations.

You cannot upload individual images to CreateSpace. You must upload a complete interior file that contains every page of the book, exactly as you want it to appear, preferably as a PDF with fonts embedded.
