children's book size formatting

I had a children's book self-published through a 3rd party company at a 9"x9" format. I am in the process of switching to createspace. My illustrations are already rendered at the 9x9 size, but createspace looks like the only square option they have is fo 8.5x8.5. Will I have to contact my illustrator to have him re-render the images at the proportional size? Or does createspace allow for the larger formatted image?

CreateSpace does not support a 9x9 trim size, so you would need to have something done prior to preparing and submitting your files. However, since the basic page format (square) is the same, it is likely that a service provider could make the necessary adjustments to prepare files for an 8.5.x8.5 trim size, and do it at a lower cost and with a faster turnaround than is generally associated with an illustrator's work. Several of us here offer that type of service. You can click my user name and send a private message if you'd like more info.
