Problem with adding an Index skewing the layout of my Word doc

Hi everyone,

I wonder if anyone can help me with this problem that happens when I add an Index at the end of the book. Although I'm using the standard Create Space template, just in adding the Index it radically skews the layout so much so that it has added on 100 more pages, and nothing looks right.

Has anyone else had this experience, and if so, can you advise me on how to overcome it. Right now, I'm considering deleting the Index, which would be a shame because I've spent many days on it.

Thank you!

In my experience, word is not fit for more than a few pages! Business letters are fine. 60 page documents usually okay.

For my Createspace book and my lecturing books I use Latex, and the index system 'just works'.

Have you tried LibreOffice or OpenOffice, both are free of charge, work on all machines and export to pdf format witout issue.

You should be able to open your word document (a copy of!!) in these word processors to see if your index issue goes away.
