I have a pdf flat of my book cover. My cover artist passed away, and I need to make a small change. How do I edit this existing document? One change is the logo on the spine. Is there a way to unflatten the layers? I'm a newbie, so be gentle. Thanks!
There's no way to "unflatten the layers," unfortunately, but you can load the PDF into a graphics program such as Photoshop or GIMP, modify the single-layer cover, and create a new PDF.
You can't edit the existing PDF, but you can modify it by placing the new logo over the old one, flatten the new layers and save a new PDF.

That's actually what I wound up doing. I erased the background of anything that I wanted to replace, filled it in with the original background color and then added the new items. I was told that when I saved the image as a pdf that it would automatically flatten the layers.
Thank you so much.
